My highly requested golden milk recipe is here! I hope you all enjoy this nourishing and grounding warm beverage. My favorite way to enjoy this tasty treat is after a sweet yoga practice and shared with good company. It is also absolutely lovely as an evening beverage before bedtime. Feel free to customize my recipe and make it your own. Something tells me a shot of espresso added could make for a delicious morning beverage as well. Let me know how you enjoy it. Andrea’s Homemade Golden Milk Recipe

Serves 3

  • 2 cups unsweetened coconut milk (I love So Delicious from a carton not a can)
  • 1 cup organic whole milk
  • 1 & 1/2 tsp ground turmeric OR fresh turmeric
  • A few slices of fresh ginger (peeled) OR 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 TBSP unrefined organic coconut oil (optional)
  • 1 TBSP local honey
  • 1-2 cinnamon sticks (I have tried it with ground cinnamon, but personally love the stick)
  • a couple twists of freshly cracked black pepper (TIP: don’t skip the black pepper – it helps your body absorb the nutrients from turmeric)

Incorporate all ingredients into a sauce pan over medium heat for about five minutes. Once milk starts to heat up, reduce the heat to low and whisk occasionally an additional few minutes. I typically do not strain out the fresh spices, but you can if you choose. Simply pour in a mug, allow to briefly cool and enjoy.Leftovers can go in the fridge for a couple days and be reheated, but I usually just make it fresh since it doesn’t take very long. Feel free to experiment with what type of milk and how much coconut oil you use. I find coconut milk and organic whole milk are absolutely delicious, but often use almond milk as well. If you are avoiding dairy, I’d replace the organic whole milk with coconut milk from a can so the milk is creamier.The many health benefits below are an added bonus. Cheers to a healthier you ?
